You must have the Windows 95/98 CD ready for this Procedure. Close all programs, you may need to restart the computer after following these instructions.

Adding Dialup Networking
Click Start, then Settings then Control Panel, double click on Add/Remove Programs.


Click on Windows Setup tab, then click on Communications, the OK.


Put a check in the Dial-Up Networking, Click OK, then OK again.


Double click on My Computer then, double click on Dial-Up Networking.


If the connection wizard does not start, double click on Make New Connection. Enter in the name SSMNET, then click next. If the Wizard does start, in the welcome screen click Next, then enter in the area code, then click Configure.


Set the Maximum speed to 57600, then click OK


Enter in area code, then phone number, See List for the phone number in your area, then click Next then Finish.


Click With the right hand side of your mouse, the left click on Properties, uncheck Use area code and dialing properties, then click on Server Type tab.


Make sure that you are using "PPP; Internet, Windows NT Server, Windows 95/98", then remove all check except for TCP/IP, click on TCP/IP Settings.


Click on Server assigned IP address, then click on Specify name server address. For the Primary DNS, enter in then remove the check for Use IP header compression, leave the check in Use default on remote network click on OK, then OK again. Close all open boxes.


Right click on SSMNET, left click on Create Shortcut, choose yes to place a shortcut to SSMNET on the desktop.

Configuring Network settings in Control Panel
Click Start, then Settings, then Control Panel, double click on Network.


If You don't have Dial-Up Adapter present, click on Add. NOTE: Make sure there is only one Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter.


Click on Adapter, then click OK. Select Microsoft, then click Ok.


Click on TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter, click on the WINS Configuration tab, click on the Disable WINS Resolutions, click OK, then OK again. This will restart the computer.

Connect to The Web
Double click on Shortcut to SSMNET on desktop or double click on My Computer, then Dial-Up Networking, then SSMNET icon. enter in the password, you may want to save password, check Save password.
