Windows 2000 General Help

You must have the Windows 2000 CD ready for this Procedure. Close all programs, you may need to restart the computer
after following these instructions.
Adding Dialup Networking
Double click on My Computer, then double click on Control Panel, then double click on Network and Dial-Up Connections.

The Network Connection Wizard should come up, if not double click on Make New Connection, then click Next.

Select Dial-Up to the Internet, then click Next.

Select I want to setup my internet manually, then click Next.

Select I connect through a phone line and a modem, then click Next.

Enter in area code, then phone number,
See List for the phone number in your area, then click Next.

Enter in your user id, example "userid@ssmnet.net" then password, then click Next.

Enter in ssmnet, then click Next.

Select No to setup e-mail later, then click Next.

Click finish to continue.

Configuring Network settings in ssmnet properties
Click With the right hand side of your mouse, then left click on Properties.

Click on Network Tab, make sure that the check is only in Internet Protocal (TCP/IP), then click on Properties.

Select Obtain an IP address and DNS server address automatically, then click on Advanced.

Select General tab, uncheck the Use IP header compression, then click on the Options tab.

Make sure that the IP Security is the Optional settings, then click on Properties.

Select Use this IP security policy, then select Client (Respond Only), then click OK.

Click on the Security tab, under the security options, select Typical, then select Allow unsecured password,
then click OK.

Goto the top
Connect to The Web
Double click on Shortcut to SSMNET on desktop or double click on My Computer,
enter in the password, you may want to save password, check Save password.
